Since you have done such a lot of work in these records can I make a suggestion for a possible addition at the end of the list, or if its long a separate list.

How about the addition of a bibliography at the end. Two parts - one of printed resources you may have used to create the list. Secondly, publications that discuss the Poor Law / Poor Relief in Scotland. That maybe put the records into context, provide examples, etc. You mention the one article by David Webster, but I am guessing you found others along the way, that might be helpful to those of us not in Scotland.

Just a thought and thanks

Paul Milner - ChicagoAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5649373752017919445.post-414911246946855182012-07-16T13:48:46.837+01:002012-07-16T13:48:46.837+01:00Thanks, Colleen. Like all great projects, when I started it I didn't think about how long it would actually take, but luckily I have the kind of mind that enjoys cataloguing and compiling lists (should have been an archivist!).

My ancestors passed through Glasgow several times, but so far I've only found one poor relief application. For several of the parishes where they lived not even parochial board minute books have survived, but I did identify a few resources that may be useful so need to check dates and places - fingers crossed!Kirsty F Wilkinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05558508787388848119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5649373752017919445.post-22022931013810624202012-07-15T17:41:26.351+01:002012-07-15T17:41:26.351+01:00Thanks Diana, I hope you find some useful informat...Thanks Diana, I hope you find some useful information for the areas where your ancestors lived.Kirsty F Wilkinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05558508787388848119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5649373752017919445.post-20960799755996646312012-07-15T16:07:46.398+01:002012-07-15T16:07:46.398+01:00Fabulous resource. It's also reminded me of the poor relief references I found for my own family, in the parochial board records held in the Borders archive (then in Selkirk, now in Hawick). I can't imagine how much work must have gone into it, but I am very grateful that you have taken the trouble to do it - not all of my poor ancestors were Glaswegians, only most of them!
